Aurora Handmade Ceramic Butter Bell

A little piece of morning light for your kitchen table. 🌅

The Aurora butter bell is glazed in soft layers of creamy white, misty blue-grey and warm earthy tones, with the glaze gently running and pooling across the surface. The lid has the prettiest blush-pink and blue-grey tones, giving the whole piece a soft, hazy feel.

And then there's the practical bit: a butter bell is one of those wonderfully old-fashioned kitchen ideas that still makes perfect sense. Keep your butter soft and spreadable without having to keep it in the fridge, ready for toast, fresh bread and all the other excellent reasons to eat butter.

Handmade from stoneware clay in South Africa, every Aurora is slightly different as the glaze moves and breaks differently in the kiln.

How it works:
Place softened butter into the lid, then add a small amount of cool water to the base. The lid sits into the water, creating a seal that helps keep your butter fresh and beautifully spreadable at room temperature. Change the water regularly for best results.

Please note:
The glaze on this butter bell is intentionally fluid and organic, so the colours, pooling, drips and subtle variations will differ from the piece pictured. Handmade ceramics are wonderfully unpredictable like that.
